#006 The White Tiger

This is a true story that I heard when I was going to countryside of Jambi (where I live) with a truck driver. The journey took a few hours so we chatted in the truck. He shared with me a wonderful yet scary story of his life. His name was Idris. Here is his life experience:

Idris have been driving for years and he has got license to drive big truck. In our country the driving license is B2. He was faithful to God as he used his spare time for prayers. He did his job well and trustable so that his friend recommended him to work at a project development in some remote area inside forest, but the salary was much higher.

As Idris was trustable and worked well, the boss of the project asked him to drive directly a new truck to the camp where the project was being worked on. During his journey to the destination, he saw a small shop made of wood by the road. He decided to stop to drink coffee. The shop owner served him the coffee and asked him where he was heading to. Idris answered about the destination he was going. The shop owner then warned him that the place was kind of haunted. Idris got a bit scared and quickly finished his coffee. Having paid for the coffee he walked out the shop. As he walked out the shop, the shop owner told him,”When you are in trouble, pray to God, your faith will save you.”

Idris drove a few kilometers and noticed that his cigarettes were left with one in the box. So he decided to drive back to the small shop. However, the small shop made of wood was gone. He couldn’t find it at all.

Feeling puzzled, Idris drove to his destination, a camp where a project doing timber was done there. Arrived at the camp, he had heard quite a lot of scary stories about ghosts and cannibals in the area. One of the stories was that in the camp there were no women other than the cook. One day a worker told his friends that he saw a very pretty woman near the camp. No one believed him. A few days later he was gone. The workers there believed that their friend followed the “girl” who was a ghost.

A few days later when Idris drove through the woods, he was dying for a pee. So he walked out his truck and tried to find a place to pee. He was so shocked that he saw a Sumatran tiger that made him pee on his pants. He ran like crazy back to his truck.

One day Idris was asked to explore new place at the remote area in the woods. Having driven far away from the camp, Idris got lost. He tried to find a way back to the camp. Suddenly his truck broke down and the engine couldn’t be started. He tried using the car radio but he couldn’t reach any of his friends. He started to get scared because he was in the middle of nowhere.

Idris had waited for a few minutes trying to calm himself. Suddenly he felt that he saw something passed by. It was white in colour. He got a Goosebumps. The Goosebumps got heavier when he heard the voice of a woman crying that reminded him about the story that his friends told him before. He was so scared and did not know what to do. He tried to calm himself again and he remembered the shop owner’s saying. Idris then closed his eyes and prayed. He begged to God to help him…

Out of the sudden a white tiger came out of nowhere and roared. Idris opened his eyes. What was weird was that he was not scared at all. His right hand reached the car key and he started the engine. It worked! The engine started. The white tiger again roared as if he instructed Idris to follow him. Idris followed him for a few hours and finally he saw a straight road. The white tiger began to run very fast that it looked like a lightning. Idris couldn’t follow the white tiger. The white tiger was gone! Then he decided to follow the straight road. Not far, he saw lights from the camp.

His friends was shocked that Idris made it out from the jungle as there were cases where workers couldn’t find their way back until other workers found them. And always when the lost workers were found, their faces were pale white. Idris’ friends offered him coffee and chatted about how he got out of the jungle. Idris shared the story about how he got out the jungle and about the shop made of wood. Then he knew that the small shop where he had his coffee was a place where a wise faithful man was buried.

The next day, Idris decided to visit the grave to say thanks as his words saved him..
